Is your man in desperate need of a makeover? If he has a hairstyle that mirrors Max Headroom and blue jeans that belong in Footloose (the original), your guy is likely in need of some serious styling. Before you make this your main mission in life, you want to make sure he is receptive to getting overhauled. The last thing you want to do is come across as critical. This will immediately put him in defense mode. Put the shoe on the other foot and tread lightly; you’ll likely want to ease into the process. Start from the top and work your way down. For hair, flip through a magazine and identify a ‘do that will do him right. You might even seek out your man’s celebrity lookalike. Approach your mate with the mags and tell him how great you think the hairstyle would look on him. Truth be told, revamping his hair could be as simple as getting him to add some styling gel, mousse or other goo. A little can go a long way in giving him that cool factor. Purchase some product and have him give it a try. Does he wear outdated t-shirts or tank tops like they’re going out of style?
Take him shopping. Help him choose clothes that you think will look great on him. If he agrees to try them on, rave about how handsome (hot, sexy, youthful, sharp, cool) he looks in the designer duds. If wild horses couldn’t drag him into a mall, your only hope may be splurging on a few new pieces for him. Explain that you couldn’t pass up the threads because you thought they would look so good on him. Present them a gift - whether it’s for an occasion or “just because.” Although he might resist your efforts at first, set up a date night and mention how much you would love for him to wear the new purchase. At the end of the night, be sure to show him just how much you enjoyed his new look. Another stealth tactic is to hide the most abominable attire in the back of his closet. Try placing the most flattering garments front and center. Also buy into a little reverse psychology. Ask him what he would change about your look. You might be able to use that as leverage. But be prepared to change your own appearance as well.
