Classic Beauty Products

Who doesn't remember the tingly, tart smell of Noxema or the iconic green-and-pink Great Lash tube? They were beauty staples for our moms and even grandmothers, and surprisingly enough, they're still pretty great. Here are a few to try if you're new to these classics. First, dry faces will thank Pond's Cold Cream for doing double duty as a thorough makeup remover and moisturizer. Anyone can use the noncomedogenic goop for makeup removal - it's gentle and does a great job with stubborn mascara. Who can forget those square bottles of pink liquid moms everywhere hoarded in their vanities? Olay Beauty Fluid is still around, and it works to moisturize all types of skin now with several formulas - normal, oily, acne-prone and fragrance-free. Noxema is still around as well and still has that invigorating smell - it also does a great job cleaning off makeup and the day's dirt, plus it soothes a sunburn.

Teenagers and ski bums of the 1970s had probably the silkiest lips of all time, due to good old Chapstick. And the lip balm is still around in plenty of flavors and formulations. Makeup artists everywhere still swear by Maybelline's Great Lash mascara, and for good reason. It delivers a full, thick lash with plenty of length - plus it's cheap! Speaking of which, the economical Dove Beauty Bar, available for about $3 per two-pack, is a great way to get clean. Plus, with that "one-quarter moisturizing cream" in the bar, it does double duty as a moisturizer. These days, you can find it in lots of gorgeous scents or fragrance-free. Regardless, it delivers soft, hydrated skin when many bars strip skin of moisture. It's a better deal because it lasts longer than body washes - but Dove makes those, too!
