When most people think of boosting their physical activity, hitting the gym is usually the first thing that comes to mind. For some, the mere thought of working out can be extremely daunting. What they probably don't realize is that it's possible to kick your fitness level up another notch with small measures. It doesn't matter if you're a complete beginner or a seasoned veteran in fitness, you'll only benefit by bringing additional physical activity to your life. There are some simple ways to accomplish this. In fact, you can actually save yourself gas money while burning fat if you keep your car in park and opt for public transportation. Try taking a bus, subway or train to your destination. Then get off two or three stops earlier. You'll get exercise walking to the stop, and on your way back you can even get off a few stops earlier to take the long way home. This is a no-brainer when it comes to implementing more physical activity into your daily routine. If you have no choice but to drive your car, park further away so that you still have the opportunity to take a hike to reach your destination. Keep the same pro-active mentality throughout the rest of your day. Bypass the elevator when it's possible to take the stairs. If you need to speak with a co-worker, skip the phone or instant messenger and pay them a visit in person. Although it may seem insignificant, the bottom line is that you're moving around and burning calories instead of staying sedentary for the entire day. All in all, these simple steps will prevent you from becoming downright lazy.
