Or prepare a bottle, go to bed early and allow your partner to put the baby to bed. Then when you take the night shift, you won't feel so exhausted. Some parents switch off each night to take care of the baby, which at least allows a full night's sleep every other night for each parent. Other new parents have sworn by healthful midnight snacking, lighter meals during the day and, of course, caffeine, to stave off exhaustion. New moms who breastfeed must watch their caffeine intake, however - nothing's worse when you're tired than having a wide-awake baby!
