Beer-Battered Vegetables
Onions aren't the only veggie that tastes great fried. Batter up this vegetable medley, or get creative with your own bite sized, beer battered morsels.
Ingredients
For 8 people
- 2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
- 1 can or bottle of beer (1.5 cups)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup(s) milk
- 1 dash(es) salt, to taste
- 1 dash(es) pepper, to taste
- 2 cup(s) vegetable oil for frying
- 1 Broccoli or Cauliflower floret, cut into bite sizes
- 1 Onion, sliced into rings
- 1 carrot, cut into thick strips
- 1 Green bell pepper, sliced in rings
- 1 Fresh mushrooms, stems removed
Directions
1. In a medium bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups flour and beer with a wooden spoon; let stand for at least 3 hours at room temperature. Combine eggs and milk in a small bowl. Using a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 C. flour and salt and pepper. Heat oil to 375 degrees F.
2. Dip every vegetable in the egg and milk mixture. Next dip the vegetable into the flour and seasoning mixture, finally dip the vegetable in the beer and flour mixture.
3. Place the vegetables into the oil and fry until golden brown.
