Fancy Tea Cookies
Prepare yourself for a touch of grey. These delicate cookies are made using Earl Grey Tea and they can be served anytime -- whether it's an elegant gathering or a relaxing solo afternoon. So start the kettle and raise a cup and saucer.
Ingredients
For 1 people
- 1/2 cup(s) sugar, white or brown
- 2 cup(s) whole wheat flour
- 3/4 cup(s) butter, at room temperature
- 3 pinch(es) salt, table
- 1 egg
- 1/2 orange, zest
- 1 1/2 tablespoon(s) Earl Grey tea leaves (about 4 bags)
Directions
First, mix up the flour, tealeaves, salt, and sugar. Using an electric mixer, add in the butter, and then add the egg and orange zest. The mixture should be moist but clumpy. Now, you can either make hand-formed cookies here, or follow the next 2 steps. Lightly flour a clean surface, and pat the dough into a circle 1/4 inch thick. Using cookie-cutters, cups or whatever, carefully cut out the cookies and place them on a greased or covered cookie sheet. Bake for 13-15 minutes until edges are lightly browned at 350 degrees.
