French Dip Sandwich

This sandwich is unbelievably fantastic. If you're already a fan of The French Dip sandwich then you'll love this. If you're not yet a fan then you're about to become one.

French Dip Sandwich


For 12 people

  • 64 ounce(s) lean beef roast
  • 1 can beef consomme'
  • 1 low-sodium beef bouillon cube
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) bay leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) whole white peppercorns or 4 whole peppercorns
  • 1/8 teaspoon(s) dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon(s) dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
  • 12 slices french bread


  1. Trim and discard all visible fat from roast.
  2. Place in crock pot.
  3. Combine beef consomme, bouillon and spices; pour over roast. Add water to almost cover.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 10 to 12 hours or until meat is very tender Remove meat; strain and reserve broth.
  5. Shred meat with 2 forks.
  6. Serve bread with broth for dipping.
