Harriet's Homemade Hush Puppies
You won't be able to keep quiet about these wonderful hush puppies because they are great tasting appetizers. Beware; you might want to wear a pair of loose pants because once you start eating them, it's hard to stop.
Ingredients
For 10 people
- 2 cup(s) corn meal
- 1/4 cup(s) flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon(s) sugar
- 1 Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 2 cup(s) buttermilk
- 1/2 cup(s) finely chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon(s) baking powder
- 1 tablespoon(s) salt
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Pour in hot water to make a thick mush. Shape as desired. Fry in deep fat until they float and are golden brown.
