Honey-Flavored Peas
Smoked ham hock and spicy peppers will amp up the flavor of a simple side of peas. Next time you ask your kids to eat their peas, they'll be sure to oblige with this tasty dish.
Ingredients
For 10 people
- 32 ounce(s) water
- 9 ounce(s) smoked ham hock
- 8 cup(s) fresh field peas
- 4 to 6 hot peppers in vinegar, drained
- 1 teaspoon(s) sugar
- 1 teaspoon(s) pepper
- 1 teaspoon(s) salt
Directions
1. Using a Dutch Oven, bring 1 quart water and smoked ham hock to a boil in a large over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low, and simmer 30 minutes.
2. Mix in peas and remaining ingredients; cover and simmer 25 to 30 minutes or until peas are done.
