Tangy Green Beans & Bacon
Bring home the bacon... and the beans. Adding a couple of slices of bacon to green beans gives this dish a mean and tasty punch. Serve it alongside your favorite mealtime staples.
Ingredients
For 8 people
- 907 1/8 grams green beans (2 lbs.)
- 2 bacon slices
- 4 tablespoon(s) minced shallots
- 1/5 cup(s) coarsley chopped almonds
- 2 tablespoon(s) brown sugar
- 4 tablespoon(s) balsamic vinegar
Directions
Cook green beans in boiling water for 2 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water. Drain well; set aside. Cook bacon in a small skillet over medium-high heat until crisp. Remove bacon from skillet. Crumble and set aside. Add shallots to bacon fat in skillet; sauté 1 minute. Add almonds and sauté 1 minute. Remove and let cool. Add sugar and vinegar; stir until sugar dissolves. Add crumbled bacon. Pour vinaigrette over beans, tossing gently to coat.
