Tomato Sandwich
This tempting tomato sandwich is about as classic as it gets. This lunchtime favorite combines the juiciness of ripe tomatoes, the bite of fresh onion, and creaminess of cheddar cheese. Switch up the bread to wheat or whatever happens to be your favorite.
Ingredients
For 4 people
- 2 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 4 ounce(s) sliced cheddar cheese
- 1 medium onion, peeled and sliced very thin
- 3 tablespoon(s) mayonnaise
- 4 slices white bread
Directions
- Place each slice of bread on a cookie sheet. Grill on one side until the bread is toasted. Turn the bread over. Spread each slice of bread with mayonnaise. Then divide the tomato slices evenly between the bread. Evenly place cheese over tomatoes. Place 1/4 of the onion on each sandwich. Grill until the cheese melts and the bread is slightly toasted; let sit for 1 minute before serving.
