Bring Old Nail Polish Back from the Dead

Are you quick to deem a beauty product DOA when it still has plenty of life left in it? Stop right there! We've got some seriously simple ways to revive your favorite polish. The first step is to make sure there is still polish in the bottle. There's no use trying to save something that isn't even there. One of the main goals is to break down polish that is thick and dried out. For starters, it's important to shake the polish well and stir things up a bit. There are four products commonly used to bring polish back to life - nail polish thinner, paint thinner, acetone or an acetone-based nail polish remover. Invest in a bottle of nail polish thinner which can be found at a local cosmetics store. Use an eye dropper to add five or six drops of nail polish thinner to the bottle. Twist the top back on and shake. You may have to repeat this step several times to get your polish back in tip-top shape. You may even want to add some clear nail polish to the bottle for a thicker consistency.
The same can be done with paint thinner. Start with the minimal amount and continue to add to it until you get the consistency you want. With acetone, you'll want to mix it with orange oil and then add to polish. Once you've added the mixture to the polish, let it sit for 15 minutes. Test the revamped polish on nails. To make thinner, add more drops of the mixture to polish. Another quick fix is to add a few drops of acetone nail polish remover to the bottle. However, if you use this option too many times, it will inevitably ruin the polish. To prevent polish from drying out, never store it in the refrigerator. Keep polish in a cool, dry place but not the refrigerator.
