Oat What a Feeling! Oatmeal Facial Mask

Everybody knows that oatmeal is a superfood. The fiber-rich food is a source of vitamin E, zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, selenium and protein. Because it's rich in soluble and insoluble fiber, it can fight cancer, heart disease and other deadly ailments. What most people fail to realize is that oatmeal is as good for the outside as it is for the inside. Oatmeal is ideal for treating dry skin and putting moisture back in the skin. When it comes to itching caused by poison ivy, eczema, insect bites, chicken pox or other irritations, adding three cups of finely ground rolled oats to a warm bath can often allay the itch. But the benefits go beyond the medicinal values. The best part is that you can achieve spa-like results on a shoestring budget. Oatmeal acts as an exfoliant. The moisturizing components also make it perfect for facial masks.
Here are a few beautifying blends. Combine two tablespoons ground oats, two tablespoons aloe vera, two teaspoons brown sugar, one teaspoon lemon juice in a bowl. Massage into skin and rinse with warm water. For an oat and honey milk bath, combine 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup powdered milk and 2 tablespoons honey. Put the ingredients in a cheesecloth. Put the bag in the faucet and fill the tub with water. Soak. Another option is to mix 6 to 8 ounces of plain yogurt, 1/2 cup oatmeal, and two teaspoons honey. Stir ingredients together. Blend over face. Leave mask on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
