Tiny toys can entertain little ones if you have the space. Portable, healthful foods such as 100-calorie snack packs, nuts and fruit leather can keep hunger at bay until you get home. A quick cleanup is essential for kids who have been touching grocery carts, playing on the playground and who knows what else. Single packs of antibacterial wipes fit the bill when you need to scrub grubby hands, and they're super small. Wet Ones make packs of 15 wipes that you can use on grimy tables, hands or anything else. Wipes are a better option than liquid antibacterial gels, which may spill in a crowded purse. Don't forget band-aids or essential medications, either. The best rule of thumb when you take kids out is one that the Boy Scouts use: Always be prepared.
