If you suspect a child is being harmed, then reporting it not only can help the child get out of harm's way, but also offer help to the entire family. If you know a child well and see sudden behavior changes or school performance problems, then it may be a sign of abuse. A neglected child may seem withdrawn, passive or compliant and show external signs such as personal hygiene problems and inappropriate clothing choices. Parents who might abuse may show signs of dislike or disgust for their children, describes the child in very negative ways, or is secretive, perhaps isolating the child from others. If you suspect abuse, then call local child protective services or 1-800-4-A-CHILD.
